Momma Said Knock You Out...

Earth Day is Rosie Day. And don't you forget it, punk.

Photoshopped by Scott. While his biscuit's flipped by painkillers. (Quite legally, I assure you, officer. All my papers are in order...) With the amateur-level 'Elements' version of Photoshop. It took me longer to type this and I could do better if I pulled out the tablet PC.

So really... there's no excuse for shoddy work from a pro. Purely illustrative of course, but really... how hard is it to be elegant, or at least inoffensive, as well as evocative?

Punks.

I’ll post this here now that the first post on the TIME issue has been bumped down to page two.

Check out this article . Yes, it's Jonah Goldberg. Yes, it’s an opinion, and not a news story. Yes, he uses phrases like "the hot air of the liberal obsession."

But he makes (at least) two points worth of consideration, in spite of his "bias:"
(1) Environmentalism does not equal patriotism, and TIME misuses the image (and the phrase "green is the new red, white, and blue") to suggest that it does.
(2) We are not, and never can be, at "war" with climate change.

[Which is why Scott’s fantastic Rosie image, though much better than the doctored Rosenthal photo by several metrics, still doesn't "work" for the cover of the magazine, at least if they're still trying to be objective.]

OK, three points:
(3) Keep an extra-close eye on the global environmental movement for authoritarian, totalitarian, anti-democratic tendencies ― just as you would any authority who claims additional power on the basis of being "at war."
